I
have just found your website and find it very interesting and
informative.

In your archive I read your
articles about travel in Europe, and of the benefit of having a Camping
Carnet. Can you give me any
information about where to get one in the UK?

Many thanks

Hi
David

Thanks
for your e-mail. Camping carnets are available from the AA, the
RAC and most of the other major motoring organisations when you take out
your travel insurance. For example Green Flag European travel
insurance protects your health, your luggage and also covers you for
cancellations or extra accommodation costs. It also qualifies you for a
FREE camping carnet. Try visiting their website at http://www.greenflag-international.com/european_motoring/insurance/default.asp to
find out more. If you contact them don't forget to tell them you
found them through www.motorhoming.com
. Good luck with your travel.

Dear Ken

The vehicle you spotted at Stratford is indeed a 'Vixen' RV and there
are at least two in the UK (as I am presently negotiating the purchase
of another example). There would appear to have been in the
region of 500 built and a well run owners association is still
operating in the USA. The majority are fitted with rear mounted
BMW 2.5l diesel engines giving an excellent fuel economy of between 25
and 30 mpg. Further information regarding these vehicles can be
found at www.agencyrv.com/vixen.htm
. If the owner C2 CUB has been in contact I would very much
appreciate it if you will pass on my e-mail address as his experience
of running a Vixen in the UK should be very enlightening.

Thanks,

Bill Weir

Hi

We are thinking of buying an American type RV but we have heard
conflicting stories regarding the size that camp sites will accept and
their drive ability on anything other than motorways or large
roads. We originally
intended to get one of 30' plus as we are intending to live in it for up
to a year. We would welcome any comments from experienced RV'ers.

Regards

Brian Murphy

Hi

Great Site. This is a conversion on a 1976 Mercedes Benz 309D
Series bus. Features queen sized bed, with storage under.
Fridge, TV, Microwave, Sink, water storage, bull bar etc. Now
being refurbished especially the dining area and repaint as colour is
not that attractive. New colours are a Mercedes white with silver
grey markings.

Hi Warren,
Great to know that our humble site is visited from as far away as
Australia (Paradise for motorhoming and so much more relaxed about it -
unlike the UK. Motorhomers are like lepers in some places over
here, rest of Europe is not quite as bad though. I hope you have a
great time when it is completed. Send us a picture when it's done.
